Coaching Courses

Education of coaches is a key component of North Sydney United's operating plan.

Coaches at all levels play a crucial role in ensuring that football is an enjoyable experience for everyone, as well as laying the foundation for the development of players.

Footballers can be divided into two streams: those that are playing for fun, and those that are playing to reach the highest level possible. These are often referred to as "participation" and "performance".

In Australia, the coaching courses for these two streams are called Community Courses and Advanced Courses. Community Courses are short, affordable and locally available courses for those coaching local teams and include:

  • Grassroots Coaching Certificate (free)
  • Junior Coaching Certificate
  • Youth Football Certificate
  • Senior Football Certificate.

North Sydney United is able to offer coaching courses up to, and including, the Senior Football Certificate via our Head Coach Joe Liddle.

Grassroots coaching course

Our Head Coach Joe Liddle will be running a Grassroots coaching course at Cammeray Oval in North Sydney. The exact dates and times will be advertised shortly.

This 2-hour hour FREE course is practical and encourages the coaches to develop practices based on FUN. The emphasis is on natural development i.e. learning by PLAYING football. Less coaching, but more organising FUN football exercises is the key to helping players build a love for the game.

Another highlight of the course is that the coaches will be exposed to basic rules of the game using game simulation.
