North Sydney United Announce new MPL Head Coach

Martin has been involved in football from a young age. At the age of 9, he was signed by the Premier League side (at the time) Sheffield Wednesday. He captained the Sheffield school boys, represented his county (Yorkshire), and attended England schoolboy trials at Keele University. Martin had spells with Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers before finishing his career in England with Stocksbridge Park Steels, where he played alongside a young Jamie Vardy before moving to Australia.

After a few years of retirement in Australia, Martin was coaxed back into football to play for the highly successful North Sydney United Over 35's team, which he went on to manage. He achieved a managerial league record of 72 games played, 68 games won, 4 games drawn, and 0 games lost over a 4-year period. In his final season, his North Sydney team achieved a league and cup double and reached the Champions of Champions final.

Martin's North Sydney United teams gained a reputation for a high-energy, free-scoring approach, placing an emphasis on free-flowing football but with discipline and structure that made them a tough team to beat.

Martin is looking forward to working with the Premier League team next season, passing on his experience and developing players at all levels of the club.
