Development Squads

Trial Registration Update

We’re opening expressions of interest to fill the remaining spots in our Academy and Ds programs for next season. North Sydney United is proud to foster a welcoming and inclusive soccer community, and we’d love to see more players join us!

After an incredible first stage of trials with over 700 participants, we are now looking to fill a few remaining spots, primarily in our Division 1 and 2 teams, and for some specific positions.

Who Should Apply?

If your child is U8 or older and demonstrates above-average skills for their age group—not just in their current team but in the broader competition—or has experience playing in Division 1 or 2 at another club, this could be their chance to join our competitive teams.

Please note.. We will not be re-trialing players from the first stage of trials, as we are confident in the evaluations made during that process.

The second stage of trials will take place in February, alongside our current players, to provide a clear picture of each player’s level.

What are Development Squads? Information below

Who is it for?

The North Sydney United Mixed Development Squads are designed to develop junior talent in the Under 7 to Under 18 age groups.

Both of the above deliver 7 months of training twice a week (once a week for Under 7). Your child will be coached by our qualified coaching staff to build a relationship that lets us accurately report their progress. Training nights will be confirmed once we establish our final numbers and squads. A parent information night will be confirmed in January.

What is it?

Under the direction of North Sydney United’s Director of Coaching, this is an intensive program for young players which aims to create a well-rounded footballer.

All training sessions are carefully structured to achieve the correct balance between the technical, tactical, physical and educational components according to the age and stage of development of each player. Our program is designed to identify and nurture young talent with the aim of developing them into better footballers.

We never forget that football is also a sport to be enjoyed and so we create an environment that is social and fun as well as being competitive.

When are games on?

Saturdays. The season is generally aligned with Terms 2 and 3.

What about training?

Training runs twice a week from February to August.

All training is conducted by a professional coach . A qualified coach with a Junior Licence will coach the teams on game days.

How much does it cost?

Fees for the 2024 season were $965 for the development squad program. There is also a FNSW fee (approx $350) and your active kids voucher can be used against FNSW fee.

Confirmation of what is included in the Development squad fee is confirmed in your offer letter.
